My name is Amanda Kennedy and I am from the Oneida Nation, Bear Clan. I grew up in London, ON. Since grade 4, age 9 I was advanced in school and had to work on my own on certain subjects like math and English, learning to teach myself, while my peers learned together, being taught by the teacher. This was difficult however I learned how to teach a different style. Using this style of teaching through my school career I was always a tutor or leader of groups, helping other students learn various topics.
Learning how to seek knowledge and use that knowledge to help others was always a strength that I shared. As a youth I became an advocate and worked in the social work field learning from and helping many people from all walks of life and of all ages and backgrounds.
Through my healing journey I again learned how to heal by reading many books, using the knowledge I gained while studying Psychology in College and working with various counsellors with all different styles of helping.
I am hosting some workshops where I help bring more self-awareness, understanding, healing and wellness through teachings, activities and team building skills. Each wellness workshop will have different teachings and covering different topics.
I am all about breaking barriers, re-rooting, re-seeding and re-developing people and communities. I strongly believe we can work together, learn from each other, heal and grow. The first workshop will be on April 5th, with a workshop every three week until the end of August 2019.
Workshops are free, and lunch and supplies will be provided.
